About us
Savage Farms Soaps began out of necessity when my son experienced skin allergies. In efforts to help him, our family tried to eliminate anything that could be bothering him. One day, I read the ingredients of the soap he was using and was astonished to find several unknown ingredients. I did some research and found out that much of the soap that we use isn’t classified as soap but as detergent! After reading a few books and watching many videos, I decided to put my biology degree to good use and made my first batch of soap. I call it Baby Soap because there is absolutely nothing in it except high quality oils. After a couple of weeks of using it, my son’s skin irritations improved dramatically. Now he only uses my soap, and I fell in love with the ancient practice of soap making.

More About Our Carefully Crafted Soap
Artisan Soap
All the soaps that I make are artisan soaps. This means that not only are they crafted with the utmost integrity, but they are creative. When I was a professor, my creativity was expressed in words. Now, soap is my creative outlet. Thus, there will be variations from the provided pictures. Artistic technique aside, the fact is that soap will do what it wants to do. I have learned in my soap-making journey that soap is a forgiving medium up to a point, and then becomes exceedingly persnickety.
What is Saponification?
Saponification is a chemical reaction between oils and lye. Once the chemical reaction is completed, there is no lye left in the soap and it is completely safe to use. Lye has been used to make soap for millenia. Our ancestors obtained lye from cooled fire ashes. In fact, all bar soap must be made with lye. Otherwise the oil would never become soap. It would simply remain oil.
Soap-Not Detergent
I only use quality oils, micas, and fragrance oil/essential oils in my handmade soap. There are no chemicals or fillers. I use 5 main ingredients in every soap: Castor oil, Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, and distilled water. I occasionally incorporate other ingredients such as avocado oil, sweet almond oil, mango butter, shea butter and sunflower oil in small amounts in some soaps. I also use fresh brewed coffee for my coffee soap. The soap you purchase from Savage Farms Soaps is all natural, cruelty-free, and pure.
